Celebrating his 24th year as principal bassist for the Irving Symphony, Dimitrius Samudio started his musical career after achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in music from East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas, and a Masters of Musical Performance, Double Bass from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. He joined Irving Symphony in 1991 as a section bassist. During the past 29 years, he has also played with the Plano Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic, Texas Wind Symphony, Dallas Baptist University pit orchestra, and the Dallas Opera. In addition to double bass, Dimitrius plays electric bass and has performed many times with the Irving Symphony as well as with the Plano Symphony, San Angelo Symphony, and various choral groups, pit orchestras, and area bands. He was the founder, manager, and musical arranger of Payin’ My Dues, a blues-rock band featured at two of Irving Symphony’s Fourth of July concerts. During the years, Dimitrius has also served as Music Director and Worship Leader for multiple area churches. Currently, Dimitrius divides his time between the Irving Symphony and freelance work with other area symphonies and bands.
